Appalachian Express Account

The Appalachian Express Account is an optional account that may be set up for a student’s convenience. This account allows for funds to be deposited and then accessed by the AppCard in specific campus locations. The Appalachian Express Account is separate from the Meal Account, but it is still accessed by the AppCard. The Express Account can be used in:

  • The University Bookstore
  • All Food Services Locations
  • Vending Machines
  • The Jackson Dining Room at The Broyhill Inn
  • Student Union for ticket sales
  • Medical Center for prescriptions and other charges
  • Student Accounts Office
  • Crossroads Coffee House
  • Library and Information Commons for fines and fees
  • Athletic Ticket Office
  • Some Laundry Machines

Off-campus students may open an Appalachian Express Account for a minimum of $20 at the AppCard Office in Trivette Hall. NOTE: The Appalachian Express Account DOES NOT REPLACE THE MEAL ACCOUNT FOR ON-CAMPUS STUDENTS!

We accept MasterCard, Visa, checks and cash for deposits to Express accounts.

Click here to see the Appalachian Express Account Brochure, which includes a sign-up form.

Please remember that the AppCard is the ONLY access to your Meal and/or Express Account.  If you lose your card, report it to the AppCard Office, so it can be invalidated.  After 5:00 p.m., and on weekends, you should report lost AppCards to University Police or log into your AppalNET account to deactiviate your AppCard online.

The person to whom the AppCard is issued is responsible for its use, including any misuse.  If your card is lost or stolen, you will be held responsible until it is reported lost or stolen.

What is the refund policy for the Appalachian Express Account?

Full refunds are available only through official withdrawal from the University during a semester.  Any Appalachian Express Account spring balances can be refunded for the amount exceeding $50, if requested.  For example, an Appalachian Express Account with $110 balance would get a $60.00 refund. Refunds will be given once a year to students who request it by the last working day before commencement in May. Request for refunds must be made through the Food Services Office in Trivette Hall. Refunds will be issued from the Student Accounts Office in John E. Thomas Hall. Telephone number to request a refund is 262-6141.
